Editing 3D Video from a Dual Camera Setup in FCP with Spatial Kit plugin from FxFactory

Final Cut Pro 12.3

Anaglyph glasses

Finally, an answer to 3D enthusiasts that are Final Cut Pro users.

Final Cut has spatial video editing for quickly editing files from the iPhone, Xreal Beam Pro and Qoocam etc.

But what if you are shooting with a two camera rig? The answer is the Spatial Kit from fxfactory.

The Spatial Kit plugin written by Iain Anderson makes the workflow simple.

Demo Video

1. Install Spatial Kit plugin

2. Import and left and right eye clips into Final Cut Pro.

3. Select and synchronize the pair of clips as Spatial/Stereo 3D (synchronizing by audio or time code. I think it's magic)

4. Create a Spatial Video Project

5. Place the synchronized clip on timeline. (Double click to view the contents of the synchronized clip)

6. On the left eye clip, change x: -1920

7. On the right eye clip, change x: 1920
(the above steps is to position the clips to the left and right side on a 3840x1080 clip)

8. Go back to project time line. In FCP change the canvas view > show stereoscopic as "Anaglyph"

9. Add the Stereo Offset Combo effect directly to the clip.

10. Put on Anaglyph Glasses and align the video while wearing anaglyph glasses. (They have different flavors of this effect, I like the manual direct alignment with a mouse versus an adjustment slider. As one aligns the footage, the window is automatically cropped and scaled.)11. Export as Spatial Video MV-HEVC or Full SBS via HEVC, h264, ProRes.
